Joan Miller's

Virtual Time Capsule

Joan Miller was born in Kapuskasing on Dec.04,1939.

First in our family was my brother Pat I was the fifth daughter after him.

He was eight years old.He didn't know what good another sister would be and suggested to my parents that they take me to the dump.  My parents didn't agree fortunately for my sake.

In those days babies were born at home. The DR. came to the house.  I don't know how that happened as we didn't have a phone. I think someone had to go and get him.

My parents were good and hardworking.

When my parents were married, nearly 100 years ago, married women were not allowed to work outside the home. My father walked to work, to work outside in subzero temps, when they had to thaw out their lunch. The war stopped but the great depression started. My father was a great mechanic and got a job at TCA, that's Trans Can Airlines. With six children now my mother found ways to make meals go farther.
