Swaminathan Kumar's

I was born on June 1st 1947 in the City of Madras (now called Chennai), delivered by a nurse who lived across from our house.

This was an ancestral property of my paternal grandfather Mr. Ramiah (known as Ramiah thatha)

The other occupant were my father, Mr. Ramiah Swaminathan, Mrs. Rajalakshmi Swaminathan (mother), Sivarama Krishnan (Older brother),

Mangalam (sister), Guru (Older brother). Later  Subramanian (younger brother) and Muralidharan (youngest brother). Apparently, there was another sister between Mangalam and Guru, Anusu, who had passed away and I do not have any recollection.

I have fond memories of spending late evening hours building "tent" with blankets and pillows in the balcony, flying kites on the open terrace and getting candies from the shop in "J", a shop keeper whose name was Gopal.

During our visit to Chennai in 2011, we visited this place only to find that the original building was demolished and a pharmacy was built.
